Millwall’s winning run came to an end as they were left frustrated by bottom of the league Wycombe Wanderers.

The Lions, who remain unbeaten in eight, will feel this was two points dropped in their attempts to climb the table.

Despite having control for most of the first half, the home side struggled to create chances against a stubborn Wycombe side.

Mahlon Romeo gave Millwall an early chance, cutting inside onto his left before forcing David Stockdale into a decent save, low to his right.

The Lions lacked attacking fluidity, misplacing passes and getting in each other’s way far too often to trouble the visitors.

It wasn’t all one way traffic, with Bartosz Bialkwoski called into action twice in the first half. Both times the Polish stopper was on hand to deny Anis Mehmeti and Daryl Horgan’s efforts from distance.

Millwall were struggling to get players close to Matt Smith in the first half and many would have been hoping for more attacking intent in the second half.

Scott Malone’s effort on 49 minutes was tipped over by Stockdale, the Lions still firmly on top but still lacking quality in key moments.

The hosts had a big stroke of luck on 69 minutes, when Alex Pearce got away with pulling Fred Onyedinma down in the box. The former Millwall winger was not pleased by the referee deciding to wave away his appeal.

The afternoon ended in total frustration for the hosts who couldn’t find a way through the Chairboys.

The Lions will have to reflect on their own attacking performance, familiar problems of quality and creativity proving costly.
