A defensive mix-up cost Millwall the three points as Nottingham Forest came away from South London with a draw.

Alex Mighten’s goal, a minute after the Lions took the lead, was enough to salvage a point for the away side. Rowett’s men were left ruing their mistake in an otherwise comfortable performance.

Millwall remained unchanged following their first win in 10 games away to Bristol City in midweek, as they sought back to back wins for the first time since mid-October.

However, neither side looked like troubling the scoresheet throughout a first half display of dismal football.

The weather turned, rain and wind set in, and the football followed suit.

Given the number of niggly fouls, players slipping and running into each other and wayward passes, the whole affair felt more Sunday League than Championship.

Millwall, who looked completely devoid of an attacking plan, opting instead for the ‘headless chicken’ approach, had the better of the chances.

Mason Bennett, Jed Wallace and Shaun Williams all had efforts that went straight at Brice Samba.

Forest offered little on the counter. Their half was summed up on 30 minutes, when, following an intricate free kick routine, Sammy Ameobi sliced his effort 20-yards to the right of the goal. The ball moved further sideways than forward.

The action must have been saved up for the second half as both sides scored within 3 minutes of the restart.

Millwall took the lead on 47 minutes. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Tom Bradshaw linked up well in the Forest half, with the former bursting into the box.

Bradshaw was on hand to turn the pull back into an empty net.

The lead lasted less than a minute, however, and the home side will only have themselves to blame.

Forest centre back Loic Mbe Soh’s long ball forward was left by Shaun Hutchinson and Jake Cooper, allowing Alex Mighten to nip in and tap past Bialkowski.

Millwall could, and should, have regained the lead on 51 minutes, as Bodvarsson’s through pass was met by Jed Wallace.

Wallace was caught in two minds and put his side cross-cum-shot wide of the post.

Despite remaining on top for the remainder of the match, Millwall once again couldn’t find the quality they needed in the final third.

The game ended in lashings of rain and with one final chance for the Lions. Ryan Leonard's edge of the box strike was tipped over by Samba

It’s an all too familiar summation of a Millwall performance, but the home side missed their chance to put their bad form behind them.

Forest looked as poor as their league position indicated, Rowett will be frustrated his side couldn’t find the win.

The game ended in lashings of rain and with one final chance for the Lions. Ryan Leonard's edge of the box strike was tipped over by Samba.
