Millwall are bracing themselves for a flurry of Premier League bids for centre back Jake Cooper this summer.

Southampton are the latest club to be linked with the 25-year-old following last week's reports that Aton Villa were also targeting the former Reading man.

Cooper has excelled this season under Gary Rowett, playing every minute of the Lions’ 36 games as they look to gatecrash the play-off places.

Rangers reportedly saw a £3million bid rejected in the summer for Cooper with the South Bermondsey outfit seeing the defender as a vital cog in their squad.

News Shopper:

Southampton have conceded the second most goals this term in the top-flight, incidentally behind Aston Villa, and Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to add defensive reinforcements to his ranks.

Cooper joined Millwall in the summer of 2017 from Reading after a successful six-month loan and has been capped by England at U20 level.

With Southampton and Aston Villa both registering an interest in the 6’4” defender, the Lions may find it difficult to refuse the clout of Premiership money while the player is also thought to be keen on testing himself in the top tier.
