Shaun Hutchinson believes his Millwall side have a great chance of gate-crashing the play-off party this season.
The defender’s late winner at Preston on Saturday moved the Lions to within four points of the Lilywhites in sixth and re-ignited the belief Gary Rowett’s men are play-off contenders.
Having played West Brom, Leeds, Fulham, Brentford and now Preston both home and away, the Lions’ run-in looks more favourable than some of their play-off rivals and has got Millwall believing they can reach the Championship play-offs.
“100%,” Hutchinson said.
“We knew we had to get a win, but we’ve got to keep going, keep putting in performances like that, keep picking up points and it’ll give us a chance come the end of the season.
“If we keep putting in a performance like we did against Preston we’ve got a great chance.”
Prior to victory at Deepdale, Millwall had gone four games without a win, something Hutchinson was glad to put to bed.
“We’re happy with the win, because it’s been two pints in the last four games, that hurt us a bit,” he told Millwall TV.
“We lost our way, we didn’t play how we know we can, so it’s good to get back on the board.”
The Lions travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday, a side who took a point from Cardiff City last weekend as they fight for survival.
