Crystal Palace are unable to recall striker Alexander Sorloth from his two-year Trabzonspor loan.

The Eagles have struggled in front of goal this season leading to suggestions that Sorloth should be given another chance at Selhurst Park.

The 24-year-old is in stellar form in Turkey, firing Trabzonspor up the league with 16 goals in 19 games this season, most recently scoring and assisting in a 2-1 comeback win over Fenerbache on the weekend.

Sources in Turkey however have revealed that Palace are unable to re-call the Norwegian unless they pay a hefty fee or if the player forces a return.

Bought for £9million in January 2018, the rangy forward failed to impress Roy Hodgson sufficiently enough to command regular game time, leading to a loan spell in Gent at the start of last year before being farmed out on a two-year stay in Turkey.

The details of the deal haven’t all been disclosed, but reports suggest Palace are ready to cut their losses on Sorloth and committed to selling the forward for £6million to Trabzonspor at the end of his two-year stay.

His goalscoring exploits have endeared him to Trabzonspor fans who have nicknamed him ‘King of the North.’

Sorloth’s scoring record is in stark contrast to his parent club who have failed to find the net in their previous two league encounters, most recently a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on the weekend.

Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Conor Wickham all failed to convince, leading to Hodgson making a January move to bring in Cenk Tosun on loan whilst letting Wickham head to Sheffield Wednesday for the remainder of the season.
