Here’s how the Charlton players rated in their 2-1 win over Barnsley.

Dillon Phillips 7

Made a great stop with score at 1-0 to deny Andersen’s header in the first half. Looked a little shaky with the ball at his feet and his distribution is still suspect.

Adam Matthews 7

Nailed down the right-back berth. Offered great width and got forward frequently. Won multiple corners and a real thorn in the Barnsley side. Defensively, never looked like getting beaten.

Tom Lockyer 6

Guilty of overplaying which went unpunished by a side lacking firepower.

Jason Pearce 7

Mopped up and took no prisoners. Marshalled the backline as always and gave Woodrow no change in the tackle.

Naby Sarr 6

Never looks in control but always miraculously always comes away with the ball. Quit a skill.

Darren Pratley 7

A quiet game from the midfielder, but don’t be fooled, he was at the heart of winning the ball back and getting the Addicks on the front foot.

Josh Cullen 8

Dynamo in midfield and sets the tempo. His set-pieces caused all sorts of problems throughout and added a swagger to a side that lacked confidence during an injury crisis. Such a big player for The Valley outfit.

Alfie Doughty 7

Pace to burn but lacks composure in the final third. His decision making is questionable when playing wing-back as there’s no cover, but that will only improve in time.

Jonny Williams 8

Adds a real spark to the side. Always looked to go forward and put the Tykes on the back foot, forcing a number of fouls. Still working his way back to full fitness.

Andre Green 9

Conor who? It may be a little early to make the statement but is he an upgrade? Offers real speed and strength to the Addicks attack, offering an alternative outlet to Taylor. Took his goal well. Could be crucial in the run in.

Lyle Taylor 9

It’s the work rate off the ball you notice watching live. Yes he scores the important goals, but his energy is infectious. The amount of times he stopped the visitors building pressure by defending from the front was countless. The moment he was hooked you could feel the intensity drop.

Jake Forster-Caskey 6

Still looks well short of a prime JFC.

Tomer Hemed 6

Offered a more direct solution to Taylor and put his weight about. Got in behind one or twice but lacked the pace to go it alone.
