Crystal Palace expect to announce their second signing of the January transfer window according to reports.

Following the arrival of Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton at the beginning of the month, Roy Hodgson’s side are expected to sign Dundee United winger Scott Banks in the next few days.

The Daily Record claimed the Eagles had lodged a “substantial six-figure” bid for the Scottish U19 international.

"I know about Scott Banks, I believe he is on the verge of joining us," Hodgson claimed.

"He is a young player from Scotland, but that will be more on the academy side.

“I know he is a talented midfield player and it will be nice to welcome him into the club."

The youngster fell out of favour north of the border after failing to negotiate a deal with the Tannadice Park outfit, prompting Palace to move early and beat a host of Premiership clubs to his signature.

Banks’s arrival won’t be the last of Hodgson’s dealing in the market this month, claiming they are “still active,” although they aren’t in such a rush to buy players as they were last month as players return form injury.

“The biggest boost will come from the players I haven’t had much chance to work with over the past few weeks," he continued.

"It has been a good month, and when these guys come back, they will almost be like new players, and they will boost and bolster our squad, to give me alternatives."
