Lyle Taylor could be a doubt for Charlton’s FA Cup clash with West Bromwich Albion as he came off at half-time in the narrow 1-0 defeat to Swansea City.

The striker, who was sidelined for three months earlier this season with a knee ligament injury, suffered a thigh problem and was replaced at half-time with Alfie Doughty.

Lee Bowyer said Taylor, 29, will go for a scan in the coming days but the early signs suggest it “doesn’t look good”.

He said: “His thigh tightened up so we’ll have to see how he is. He’ll have to go for a scan in the next couple of days but it doesn’t look good.

“Hopefully it’s not too bad and he’s back for the next league game [against West Bromwich Albion]. That’s the most important thing but it’s too early to say.”

It means Josh Davison, who made his full Championship debut against Swansea City, could be in line for another start.

Andre Green has signed on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season and may be in contention, while Macauley Bonne is out with a hamstring injury.

Asked about Bonne’s situation, he added: “He’s had a scan. To be honest, I’ve just concentrated on this [game against Swansea], I know he ain’t going to be back for a few weeks.”

“I will find out but I was concentrating on this and trying to get us three points.”

But Bowyer was full of praise for his young side as they made Swansea fight for all three points at the Liberty Stadium.

Charlton’s starting 11 comprised five players aged 20 and under at one point but produced a battling display in the second half to push the Swans all the way.

Ben Dempsey and Davison were the two academy graduates who made their full league debuts and the Addicks chief praised his youngsters.

He said: “They have done themselves proud. I said to them both ‘you should be proud of yourselves’. The way they handled the situation, I thought, was excellent.

“It’s a credit to our academy. Are they ready to play in the Championship? Probably not [but] our academy has done a great job.”
