Crystal Palace’s desire to land a forward this January may proove stronger than keeping Wilfried Zaha according to John Solako.

The Selhurst Park hero believes Roy Hodgson’s yearning to get a proven front man in his ranks may finally see the club accept an offer for Zaha.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has remained coy over his January dealings, but with Pedro and Willian out of contract in the summer and potentially exiting the club next month, reinforcement to his attacking armoury looks the priority.

Since their transfer ban has been lifted, Chelsea have appeared front runners to land the Ivorian and although they are unlikely to offer the £80million asking fee Palace rate Zaha at, Solako feels the only way he could leave is if Olivier Giroud or Michy Batshuayi are part of the deal.

“They could do a great little swap,” Solako told Love Sport Radio.

“Palace have got their eyes on Giroud, and that would be fantastic - Giroud plus money!

“If Palace get the right offer, they could be tempted.

“Wilfried definitely has the ability for Chelsea, and no Palace fan can begrudge him if he wants that move.”

Zaha talent was on display in the M23 derby on Monday night as his thunderous effort rescued a point for the Eagles against Brighton.

Having come through the ranks at Palace and emerging as one of the league’s best wingers, Hodgson will undoubtedly want to keep their starman but with the 26-year-old keen to compete at the highest level, the manager knows that with every transfer window there’ll be interest in the oen time Manchester United man.

Solako, although feeling the SE25 outfit could be tempted by a player plus cash offer, ultimately think a move to Stamford Bridge will not be happening.

“I honestly don't think Wilf will go to Chelsea," he continued.

“Callum Hudson Odoi has come back, and I don't think they'll want to hinder his development.”
