Charlton are expected to offer free agent Joe Ledley a short-term deal at The Valley.
The 77-cap Welsh international has been training with the depleted Addicks squad this week and according to sources it’s thought manager Lee Bowyer has been impressed enough to offer a short term contract.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been a free agent since having his Derby County contract terminated by mutual consent last February.
With 12 first team injuries Bowyer is keen to add to his squad and a short-term deals suits both parties.
Midfielder’s Sam Field, Josh Cullen, Jake Forster-Caskey, and Beram Kayal are all long-term absentees, which has seemingly forced Bowyer to make a move for free-agent Ledley.
Ledley’s last competitive game came in August 2018 when he started The Rams’ 2-0 win over Preston.
If fit, the former Cardiff City, Crystal Palace, and Celtic man will offer the Addicks a wealth of experience having played Premiership, Championship and Champions League football, as well as being part of Chris Coleman’s side that made the semi-final of Euro 2016.
If a deal is struck, Ledley would join fellow Welshmen Jonny Williams and Tom Lockyer at The Valley.
