Here’s how the Crystal Palace payers rated in their 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Vicente Guaita 6

Twice denied Pulisic with superb stops, first at the feet of the American and on the hour with a fine flying save.  Maybe could’ve come off his line quicker for the opener but it’s hard to fault the keeper who’s been imperious this season.

Joel Ward 6

Given a merry dance from Pulisic down the left early on but steadied the ship well before hobbling off just before the break.

Gary Cahill 7

Great display on his return to Stamford Bridge marshalling the backline. Made a superb block moments before the break to deny Willian a certain goal.James

James Tomkins 6
Looked a little static for the opener and lost his man. Should’ve done better with a header at 1-0 but may have seen it late. That said, together with Cahill Palace have a central pairing that is the foundation of all that is good with the side.

Patrick van Aanholt 5

Gave the ball way cheaply on occasion in the first 45 but looked a lot more solid after the break. Started to get forward and linked up well with Zaha but he’s a defender that has never filled you with confidence at thee back.

Luka Milivojevic 5

Found the going tough in the middle of the park against an electric trio. Will see Mason Mount in his sleep. Set pieces a little off too from the usually precise Serbian.

Cheikhou Kouyate 5

Made a number of tackles, interceptions and ran well with the ball out from the back on occasion. Offers little creativity and once behind he is never the man to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

James McArthur 6

The guy doesn’t stop running. He epitomised Palace display, hassling and harrying but ultimately little going forward.

Andros Townsend 5

Had little impact in the first half and was all too quiet in the second. Gave the ball away cheaply on too many occasions.

Wilfried Zaha 6

Frustrating afternoon for the Ivorian showed with a needless yellow card in the first half. Came alive in the second half but the game was already lost. Had a great battle with Cheslea’s Reece James which probably ended evens.

Jordan Ayew 5

A very lonely figure in the first half but grew into it in the second when Palace ventured forward. Brought his midfielders into the game but never really looked like scoring.

Martin Kelly 5

Found it hard agianst the speedy Pulisic, showing how good a job Ward was doing up until injury struck.
