Lee Bowyer has ruled Lyle Taylor out of Saturday’s derby at Millwall.

Bowyer had hoped to have their talisman back for their Preston fixture that ended in a 1-0 defeat at The Valley last Sunday.

A set-back in training pushed any hopes of a return further back with 29-year-old not expected to be in the matchday squad at The Den.

It had been hoped the Montserrat man had overcome knee ligament damage that has kept him out since the end of August but the Addicks chief has quashed rumours of a return.

“He can’t come on, so why would we name him on the bench?!” Bowyer said.

“If he could come on and give us ten minute I’d 100% name him on the bench.

“He’s had an injection, now we have to let that settle down and slowly build him up over the next couple of week.

“We’ll be looking to get him training building up to the Cardiff game (November 23), that’s the target.

“But the target was Preston and that didn’t happen.

“We have to be careful, we need look at the bigger picture.”

Matthews and Aneke

Adam Matthews came through an outing for the under 23's erlier this week and offers competition to Chris Solly and Deji Olishaja at right back for the trip across London.

Chuks Aneke is a doubt after being replaced after 45minutes in his goalscoring apearance in the 2-2 draw with Millwall U23 on Monday.

"We are evaluating him but its not looking good," Bowyer added.

There ar eno further updates on long term injuries to Jonny Williams, Sam Field, Jake Forster-Caskey, or Tomer Hemed.
