Jed Wallace was a bright spark in Millwall’s 2-1 defeat at Reading on Saturday.
The forward netted what turned out to be a consolation for the Lions as their away day troubles continued at the Madjeski.
Frist half goals from Jordan Obita and Sam Baldock proved decisive and inflicted the first defeat of the Gary Rowett era despite Wallace’s moment of magic shortly after the hour.
Wallace has been in sparkling form this season, scoring four in his last five outings, and it’s not gone unnoticed by his new manager.
“You can see what Jed’s got, he can be the difference with his quality and his ability,” Rowett said.
“What we’ve got to do is give him a better base with the rest of the performance for him to go and show that.
“I thought he worked hard again, you can see the quality that he has, he showed it last weekend against Stoke.
“He showed it again this weekend and that bit of individual brilliance could have changed the game.
"Regarding the goal, it was a fantastic piece of individual play from Jed. We've spoken before about that unpredictability he has, and that spark that you need in games.”
The former Wolves winger has been at the forefront of almost all that is good for the ions going forward, and that has not been lost on the Millwall faithful.
If Saville was worth 8m jed has got to be minimum 12-15 ? 😂😂 #Millwall

his game 100% he is so important to millwall In that midfield that if he got injured we would be fucked
Savill 8 million you can double that for Jed
Jed Wallace has scored more goals in his last five matches than the previous 24 before that. Gone up a level in recent weeks and he's finally adding the end product that hasn't always been there. Already got more league goals than last season.

Defeat left the Lions 17th in the league ahead of an eagerly anticipated home London derby with Charlton on Saturday.
