Josh Brownhill’s 98th minute effort broke Charlton hearts as Bristol City came from behind to steal all three points at Ashton Gate.

A pulsating second half saw Macauley Bonne give the Addicks the lead on 65 minutes before substitute Famara Diedhiou levelled ten minutes later from close range.

Diedhiou was given his marching orders with four minutes to go for a senseless lash out which added to the drama of a highly entertaining fixture that was capped off by the Robins’s skipper’s late winner.

A largely forgettable first half was only remembered for the injuries to Sam Field and Jake Forster-Caskey.

With Darren Pratley and Chris Solly entering the fray the Addicks saw out the half despite a late rally from the home side.

Bonne nearly gave the Addicks the perfect start to the second half.

Released by Leko down the left, the forward cut inside of Taylor Moore before curling his effort inches over the bar.

Beram Kayal forced Daniel Bentley into a smart save from 25-tyards just before moments later as Bowyer’s men upped their game

On the hour Charlton’s best chance of the game fell to Conor Gallagher who couldn’t quite get the ball out of his feet before Bentley smothered.

Well on-top Charlton searched for the opener but they were nearly undine after a swift counter saw Andreas Weimann’s effort from six-yards brilliantly saved by the excellent Dillon Phillips.

The resulting corner saw a goalmouth scramble where somehow the ball stayed out of the Charlton goal, from which they countered an struck truck through Bonne on 65 minutes.

Josh Cullen picked out the forward who beat Bentley to the ball on the edge of the box before slotting home from a difficult angle, notching his third goal in as many games.

Both keepers were immediately called into action soon after the opener as first Bentley denied Bonne when through on goal and Phillips provided a spectacular flying stop to deny Weimann once more.

Bentley made another flying stop on 70minutes, but this time it was to redeem himself for his poor clearance that fell to Pratley 35-yards out who volleyed goalwards.

Bristol struck back on 75 minutes through substitute Famara Diedhiou who nodded home from close range after Pedro Pereira’s cross was flicked on.

Hero became villain for the home fans on 83 minutes when Diedhiou was given his marching orders for a needlessly kicking out at Jason Pearce while stranded on the deck.

Down to ten men, and with second remaining Charlton lost possession on the half way line and Kasey Palmer sent Brownhill through who cooly finished to snatch victory.
