EIGHTEEN-year-old Grant Basey capped a memorable week by making his first-team debut for Charlton against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

The left-back, who was spotted on a community scheme course aged nine, was promoted to the substitute's bench for last midweek's game against Plymouth Argyle in the absence of the injured Ben Thatcher (knee), Chris Powell (ankle) and Cory Gibbs (foot).

He then scored for the reserves the following day in a 3-1 defeat to Aldershot Town before starting at The Valley.

The reserves are due to play the Hoops at Loftus Road today and will travel to Watford next Wednesday, while the under-18s entertain Portsmouth at Sparrows Lane on Saturday (11am).

WITHOUT a goal from their strikers in their last four matches, Charlton will be without Svetoslav Todorov for the rest of the season after it was confirmed the forward had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and also sustained a small fracture within his knee against Plymouth Argyle last midweek.

The Bulgarian striker had scored three goals in five starts since joining on a free transfer from Portsmouth over the summer.

Manager Alan Pardew said: "It's a terrible injury and you can't help but feel for him."
