Millwall will be without midfielder Ryan Leonard for a ‘number of weeks’ through injury according to Adam Barrett.

The stand-in Lions boss revealed that the 28-year-old picked up a knee injury in the 2-1 win over Leeds United ten days ago.

Speaking to Millwall Official Barrett, who’s in temporary charge of The Den outfit since Neil Harris’s stepped down from the role, admitted that the former Sheffield United man will likely miss the weekend’s derby at Brentford as well as home ties to Cardiff and Stoke.

“Unfortunately, Ryan will be on the sidelines for a number of weeks, which is really disappointing because he has come into some good form lately,” Barrett said.

“He was excellent until he had to come off last weekend.

“Jiri Skalak, we’ll wait and see with.

“He’s been back in training which is great, so we’ll continue to monitor him. “Other than those two lads, we’re good to go.”

Barrett has enjoyed a ‘whirlwind’ first week in charge of the Lions and with the international break he’s had time to implement his ideas as he prepares for the short trip to Brentford.

One thing that will remain from Harris’s tenure in chare is the team ethos amongst the player.

“At this football club, the togetherness and confidence as a group has always been vital,” he continued.

“The team spirit has been there to see, and what is important is the mentality that we’re all in this together.

“The staff, everyone was pulling in the right direction and that’s so important at this club.

“It’s great to see, it’s good to have it there, and we have to make sure we continue that now and build on it.”

“Our sole aim is to go to Brentford and make sure we can go and get a result.

“Everyone is in a good place, we continue to wish all the lads well who are on international duty, and hopefully they come back with no problems. “From there, we’ll get the preparation sorted for next weekend, which we look forward to.”
