Leeds United failed in their attempts to use ‘mind games’ to unsettle Jed Wallace before penalty in Millwall’s 2-1 win at The Valley the forward said.

The Lions were awarded a spot kick after Gaetano Berrardi was shown a straight red in the 12th minute for bringing down Tom Bradshaw when through on goal.

After a delay, Wallace stepped up and drilled his effort into he top corner of Kiko Casilla’s net, but not after the goalkeeper tried to gain an advantage over the Millwall man.

“They tried to use a few mind games,” he said.

“The keeper tried to delay it.

“Asking what I like to drink in the afternoon, how I was ad what I’m up to tonight!

“I just ignored him, put it in and run off.”

The decision to award the defender a straight red was shrouded in controversy, as by getting a penalty, Millwall weren’t denied a goalscoring opportunity.

“I don’t know the rule," he added.

“(Tom) Bradder’s is going to get a shot off, and he pulls him down.

“Is it red card or not?

“If you don’t play the ball then I think it’s a red, so obvs he had to send him off.”

Bradshaw himself got on the scoresheet with a sublime finish later in the half, and Wallace feels there’s more to come from the Welshman who spent the majority of last season in the treatment room.

“It was genuinely world class!

“An unbelievable finish.

“Took all the power off it, and what a ball it was from Shane Ferguson, and put it in the corner.

“Fans have been frustrated but he’s had a long term injury.

“You can’t come in every game flying, you’ve got to build it up.

“But last two games he’s looked razor sharp, and he’s going to score a lot of goals for this club.”
