The Football Association is investigating an allegation of racial discrimination during Charlton match with Leeds United at The Valley on Saturday.
The incident is understood to be between Charlton’s Jonathan Leko and Leeds’ goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.
Referee John Brooks was made aware of the incident and included it in his match report which the FA will investigate further.
The incident overshadows a game Charlton won 1-0 thanks to a Macauley Bonne strike.
The FA will now speak to both players and clubs as they look to resolve the matter.
Club Statements
Charlton releasaed a club statement on their official website stating:
'Charlton Athletic can confirm that an allegation of racial abuse directed at Jonathan Leko by an opposing player during Saturday’s game against Leeds United was reported to referee John Brooks.
The Football Association are carrying out an investigation following the report.
The club will support Leko throughout the process and will not be making any further comment until the investigation is concluded.'
Leeds themselves have also made a statement acknowledging the FA investigation but will make no further comment at this stage.
