Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic has set his points target for the season.

The Eagles have endured an indifferent start this campaign, registering wins over Manchester United and Aston Villa, but also slumping to defeats at Sheffield United and Tottenham.

Despite an admittedly disappointing transfer window fans were optimistic after Palace finished last season strongly, six-games in however they’re unsure of what to expect, both at home and on the road.

Captain Milivojevic however has set his target for the season.

“If we can take the same number of points as last season, or even more, we will be happy with that," the skipper told PLP.

“Last season, I said top ten and most of the time we fight to stay in the league, but we still ended up with 49 points, and the aim is to be better than last season."

The Eagles find themselves 12th in the Premiership on eight points, but know that but for a last-minute equaliser from Wolves on Sunday they would’ve leapfrogged Tottenham and Manchester United into 7th.

"It’s not easy to be consistent,” he continued.

"Every single game is hard and different.

“It is not like in other leagues where you can already take three points before the game but in Premier League that is impossible.

"At the moment, let’s say that we are okay.

“I can say we are happy with the points but when you see we could easily take 10 points at the moment, which was our aim, but we are where we are and we continue."

Manager Roy Hodgson described the Wolves draw as feeling ‘like a defeat’ such was the nature of Diogo Jota’s injury time strike.

Serbian Milivojevic echoed his boss’s feelings, claiming they only have themselves to blame as they failed to make their numerical advantage, after Roman Saiss’s dismissal, count.

“We were very disappointed because we think we deserved to get three points.

“I can say I am disappointed because it was a very easy game to deal with the situation on the pitch, as we had an extra man.

“We kept everything under control but just in the last second we gave them a chance to put a ball into the box and they punished us from our mistake.

"But that is the Premier League, if you don’t convert your chances then you can be punished and that has happened to us."

Crystal Palace face Norwich at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
