Conor Gallagher has a fan in fellow Charlton teammate Jonny Williams.

Chelsea’s on-loan midfielder scored his third goal for the Addicks in their 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday and Williams believes that’s just the start of it.

Playing at the top in a midfield diamond, the 19-year-old has been a revelation for Lee Bowyer’s side earning rave reviews from his manager, teammates and fans alike since arriving on a season loan from Frank Lampard's Blues.

Having only played under23 football before the start of the season, questions were asked whether Chelsea’s Youth Team Player of The Year would be able to cut it in the Championship.

It’s safe to say he’s silenced his doubters, and Williams, who set-up Gallagher for the only goal at The Valley, believes there’s more to come.

“There’s a reason why he’s at Chelsea and why he’s a Chelsea player,” he said.

“You’ve seen what Mason Mount did in the Championship last year, and if he carries on like that I don’t see a reason why he won’t get a chance.

“He’s still so young, he’s been unbelievable.

“What surprised me most is his will to win, and desire to get better and prove what a player he is.

“He puts in an absolute shift.

“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to get from loan players, especially from top clubs.

“But he’s been a pleasure, he’s clever, picks up great positions.

“He’s proved what a player he is and what a signing he’s been.

“He’s a pleasure to play alongside.”

Charlton travel to Reading on Saturday.
