Anfernee Dijksteel’s Charlton future faces uncertainty with Middlesbrough having tabled a third bid for the right back.

An offer believed to be in the region of £2million is though to been accepted by the Addicks hierarchy for their Academy product.

If Dijksteel were to leave it would cause a headache for manager Lee Bowyer and Head of Recruitment Steve Gallen.

The Charlton boss stated he was happy with his defence, having staid he wanted, and had, two players in every position.

It left him with the ability of using his allowance of five loan signings to bolster a severely threadbare midfield and attack.

With four loan spaces still available after the arrival of Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea, it’s though Bowyer would be reluctant to give up another loan spot to fill the void should Dijksteel make the move to The Riverside.

With owner Roland Duchatelet reluctant to invest in permanent signings, there’s no guarantee the money generated from the Dutchman’s sale to Jonathan Woodgate’s side would be put back in to the team.

That would leave Bowyer either using up a loan space or searching for a free agent.

Uncertain of what direction Bowyer and Gallen decide to go, here are a list of the potential free agents that could fill the Dijksteel-shaped void to fight Chris Solly for a starting berth at right back.

Adam Matthews

The 27-year-old Welshman finds himself without a club following his spell at Sunderland.

Following spells with Celtic, Cardiff and Bristol City, the Welsh international would offer a wealth top-level football to Bowyer, and competition to club captain Solly.

Eros Pisano

News Shopper:

Let go by Bristol City the Italian would add quality to the squad albeit it would be a short term solution seeing as he’s 32.

Experienced at Championship level, the former Palermo, Verona and Genoa man would be a useful asset being able to play across the whole backline.

Connor Randall

Let go by Liverpool the 23-year-old can play both right-back, left-back and central midfield.

With a reputation of improving players, this could be the sort of signing Bowyer would relish.

Nathan Thompson

Starring for Portsmouth last season the right-back is still weighing up his options after his contract expired.

There was thought to be no shortage of suitors for the 28-year-old such was his form under Kenny Jackett, but he somehow finds himself without a club.

Thompson could be a real coup.

Eli Dasa

The 26-year-old Isreali is a free agent after Maccabi Tel Aviv let him go.

Making 34 appearances last season it’s a surprise the right back finds himself without a club.

Cristian Gamboa

News Shopper:

Costa Rican Gamboa made his name at Celtic winning countless trophies.

Now finding himself without a club after a poor run of injuries, the former West Brom man could prove a shrewd piece of business if he strung together a run of games.

Jordan Spence

News Shopper:

Let go by Ipswich last season, the former West Ham youngster is without club.

Similar to Josh Parker’s recruitment last season, Spence could be the solution Bowyer is looking for.
