Charlton's play-off hero Krystian Bielik has signed for Derby County from Arsenal.

The Rams have given the Polish international a five-year contract believed to be worth a club record of up to £10million.

The 21-year-old, who can play defensive midfield or centre back, spent last season on loan at Charlton making 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring four times.

Bielik was named Man of the Match in the League One Play-Off Final win over Sunderland in May which promoted the Addicks to the Championship, and he spoke glowingly of his former employers upon his Derby unveiling.

"Last year was very good for me, winning promotion with Charlton," Bielik told RamsTV.

"We knew it was going to be a massive game, (the final), in front of 80 thousand people, a great experience.

"In the fourth minute we lost a crazy goal, a few of the lads put their heads down, and a few said let's keep going.

"We won the game in the last minute. A crazy game.

"My whole family were there, it was a huge game for the club.

"It was a great season or me, I was so happy that I found people there that took me under their wing straight away and it was an incredible atmosphere and it helped us.

"We were a great team in the dressing room, and even better on the pitch."

Looking ahead the Charlton fan-favourite said:

"I'm glad to be joining Derby, a massive club, and a big step forward in my career.

"And I can't wait to get out on the pitch.

"I promise I'll do my best every trainign session and every game."

Derby coach Philip Cocu said of his new recruit: "He is a young player at the age of 21 and it is a permanent deal which I think is a very good investment for the club. I am very happy he has joined the team.

"He will get better and develop, but for his age he is a very good player."
