Preston North End boss Alex Neil says last season’s double over Millwall will have no bearing on their season opener on Saturday.
The Lillywhites recorded back to back wins over Neil Harris’s men last term, with a 3-2 win at Deepdale followed by a 3-1 win at The Den most recently in February.
Neil however, whose side finished 14th last term, travels to South London believing Millwall are a different proposition to last season having recruited well in the summer.
Harris, true to his word of overhauling the squad, brought in Matt Smith, Connor Mahoney, Alex Pearce, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Frank Fielding, Jason McCarthy and Bartosz Bialkowski, signings praised by Neil.
“Neil (Harris) has strengthened really well,” he told Preston Official.
“The proof will be how well they do this season, but the lads they have brought in really suit the way they play and they will be a threat.”

Despite the heavy turnaround in personnel, Neil believes Millwall’s style of play will not alter far from last season.
“We know how Millwall play,” he continued.
“I don’t think there will be any surprises from them to us and likewise.
“The first thing you have to do going to a place like Millwall, is to compete.
“The last game won’t have any bearing on it.
“You can play a team 100 times and every single one of them will be very different. We just need to go and try and put a very good performance in this game.
“It will be a tough match.”
Preston come to The Den with three new signings themselves in Patrick Bauer, David Nugent and winger Andre Green who joined on loan from Aston Villa on Thursday.
