Millwall’s unbeaten pre-season run was ended with a 2-1 defeat by SC Braga.

Joao Palhinha and Andre Horta goals either side of an Aiden O’Brien volley in the first half ensured the victory for the Portuguese side.

The fixture was Millwall’s second of their pre-season camp in Portugal, as the Lion’s beat Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town through an 85th minute winner from Shaun Williams.

Millwall started the game on the front foot, as Matt Smith had a towering header cleared off the line, while Connor Mahoney’s rasping effort was equally matched by Braga’s goalkeeper.

It was SC Braga however, who opened the scoring through playing Millwall at their own game as Joao Palhinha headed in a corner in the 18th minute.

Millwall responded to going behind extremely well as both Conor Mahoney and Jed Wallace threated on the counter attack.

The Lions efforts were rewarded when Aiden O’Brien came out on top in a goal-mouth scramble and slotted home a half-volley to ensure that both sides went into the break on level terms.

Unlike at Concord last week, Harris opted to make no changes at the interval, but rather filtered through a handful of substitutes throughout the second half.

Millwall threatened through their signature set piece move, with Jake Cooper heading wide from a corner on 60 minutes.

However, Andre Horta regained the lead for the Portuguese outfit after a effortless one-two exchange on the edge of the area unlocked Millwall’s defence and allowed the midfielder to drill a low shot past Frank Fielding.

The hosts then found their formula, after Millwall’s substitutions messed up their defensive shape. They shifted the ball from side to side before unlocking Millwall’s defence again but this time the shot dragged wide past Fielding.

The South Londoners will endure another two days at their training camp in Faro before flying back to London on Thursday afternoon where they will carry on their preseason programme with a match against Gillingham on Sunday.
