Crystal Palace and Everton are fighting it out to land Lille defender Adama Soumaoro.
Both clubs have held talks with the players agent over a proposed £13million switch from the Ligue 1 runners-up according to a French report.
The captain is thought to be keen on a switch to the Premiership and according to French publication, La Voix Du Nord, both clubs have been monitoring the Frenchman’s situation.
Everton reportedly tabled a £19million offer for the 27-year-old 12 months ago which was turned down, but now they are wanting to cash in on their Academy graduate.
Lille’s impressive season has seen key-men Thiago Mendes and Youssouf Kone move to Lyon, and despite huge interest in £60million-rated crown jewel Nicola Pepe, it’s thought Les Dogues (The Great Danes) would be willing to also let Soumaoro leave as well.
James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho formed a sturdy defensive partnership for Roy Hodgson last season, but Sakho's injury record and speculation surrounding able-deputy Scott Dann’s Selhurst Park future, Soumaoro’s arrival would be seen as a justified acquisition.
