Tariqe Fosu has signed for Oxford United on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old was offered a new deal at The Valley upon the Addicks' promotion to the Championship in May but the midfielder announced he would be moving last week.

Former Reading trainee Fosu joins up with former Charlton boss Karl Robinson at the U's and stated it was the manager who drew him to the League One outfit.

“Obviously I know Karl from his Charlton days and I know what he’s about, so I think it’s a good deal." he told OUFC.

“Me and Karl got on really well, so as soon as he called me I was up for it.

“The club has a good stadium, manager and set-up.

“I’ve played against Oxford a few times now and always thought they were a good team who played attacking football.

"I enjoyed working with Karl and I know the Chairman from his time at Reading so those two were big factors in coming here.

"But the biggest thing was to join a good club who have big ambitions and I know I have found that here.”

'Fantastic Player'

Robinson who signed Fosu for Charlton was equally delighted to get the deal over the line.

“He’s a fantastic player.

"He’s really talented.

"He has so much skill, can be direct and he knows the league. Last summer we had a major rebuilding to do and it took time but this season we already have the core of a good squad here and adding players like Tariqe continues to strengthen us.

“Tariqe will play off the left. He’s quick, he’s powerful, and he scores goals.”

Charlton fans didn't seem too disappointed with the departure.
