Joe Aribo has agreed to join Rangers when his Charlton contract expires at the end of the month.

The midfielder, 22, has opted to sign for Steven Gerrard's Ibrox outfit in what is thought to be a four-year deal.

Sources say Addicks boss Lee Bowyer was unsuccessful on Friday in last ditch talks in convincing Aribo to sign a new deal at The Valley.

Aribo, who scored 10 goals in 39 appearances in their promotion winning campaign, had a new deal on the table from the Addicks who've been negotiating for the last six-months, but it seems Rangers' counter offer, thought to be worth £1million a year, was too appealing.

The move also means that a compensation package would a be a fraction of that received if Aribo stayed in England.

Aribo's impending departure makes it the second high-profile contracted player, after Patrick Bauer who left for Preston, to leave The Valley this summer.

Fans Say:

The move foreseen by many wasn't warmly received by Charlton fans, but most believe that with Bowyer at the helm after clearing his future up last week, penning a one-year deal, the Addicks will 'move on.'
