Crystal Palace’s £65million valuation of Aaron Wan Bissaka is ‘madness’ according to Ray Parlour.

Manchester United have had a £40million bid rejected by the Eagles and it’s expected they will return with an improved offer for the 21-year-old right back.

After a breakout season at Selhurst Park, Wan Bissaka has seen his stock rise rapidly with his performances garnering interest across Europe, and notably Manchester United who see the academy graduate as a long-term replacement for recently departed Antonio Valencia.

With three years left on his contract, Chairman Steve Parish is under no pressure to sell one of his prised assets and will stand firm on his valuation of Wan Bissaka as they brace themselves for United’s second bid.

Arsenal’s Premier League winner Parlour however, believes the fees talked about for Wan Bissaka are way off the mark.

"It is madness, absolute madness," he told talksport radio.

"I really like him, I think he’s an excellent player and I’ve seen him on quite a few occasions.

"His defending is very good and he gets forward.

“But for £65m? It’s crazy.”

It wasn’t just the inflated market for British youngsters Parlour found baffling, citing Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt proposed £70million+ moves.

"I mean, look at those Ajax youngsters. They’re only young and they’ve not really done anything yet.,” he continued.

"They’ve really shown that they can play in an Ajax shirt and have done really well in the Champions League but they’re going for £70m-£80m as well."
