Millwall announced that they have agreed to sign on-loan Derby County defender Alex Pearce on a permanent deal following the expiration of his deal with the Rams on July 1st.
After failing to break into Frank Lampard’s team, Pearce signed on-loan for the Lions in January and has thrived in Neil Harris’ side ever since.
He made 16 appearances for the Lions, captaining the side in Steve Morison’s absence on many occasions and scored the opening goal in the FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton.
His experience and professional attitude led the defender to become a favourite at The Den in both the terraces and the changing room.
The signing is expected to be the first of many, in what is shaping up to be a busy summer for the Lions.
It was fair to say that the Lion’s faithful was more than pleased with the signing:
Millwall defence is gonna be key next season. So Pearce signing is great news he don’t take no shit from anyone and will pull his own players if they ain’t putting in a job....club captain
