Stoke City manager Nathan Jones has spoken of his admiration for Millwall striker Lee Gregory.

Gregory has been strongly linked with a move to the Potters when his deal at The Den expires at the end of June.

Jones expressed his fondness for the 30-year-old forward who netted 13 times this season.

“He ticks a lot of boxes, but a lot of people tick a lot of boxes,” Jones told Stoke-on-Trent live.

“There’s a few players at Millwall that I’ve watched over the years and liked, but saying names would be wrong.

“It would be wrong of us to name names until people are over the line and then we won’t upset or alert anyone.

“Things are well underway with a number of people, so hopefully we can have something over the next week or two.”

When probed about Gregory the former Luton manager was full of praise.

“I think he’s(Gregory) done very well,” he continued.

“I’ve liked him since he was at Halifax and scored a lot of goals.

“He’s gone to Millwall and got them promoted.

“We liked him when we were at Brighton.

“He’s a good player who’s done well.

“He’s scored 13/14 goals in a side that has just avoided relegation, but done fantastically well, and he’s been a part of the success story at Millwall.”

Jones would’ve seen Gregory up close in the recent goalless draw at The Den last month on their way to a disappointing attempt at an instant return to the Premiership.
