Here’s how we rated Charlton’s players in their convincing win against Rochdale…
Dillon Phillips – 7 – Made some solid saves when called upon but, in reality, he didn’t have a lot to do in terms of shot-stopping.
Anfernee Dijksteel – 6 – One of his several lapses in concentration gifted Rochdale a great scoring opportunity. Got forward often but his crossing accuracy was below-par.
Naby Sarr – 8 – Swept up Dijksteel’s error brilliantly and made consistently decent passes to split the Rochdale defence. His yellow card was probably unnecessary.
Patrick Bauer (c) – 8 – Looked in control at the back, like Sarr, and cleaned up well. His passes into the front two didn’t come off as often as expected.
Ben Purrington – 8 – He was excellent, you can see why Bowyer rates him so highly. A huge headache for Rochdale down the left wing, unlucky not to be credited with the second goal.
Krystian Bielik – 8 – A strong presence in the middle of the park, which was felt throughout the game. Made solid tackles, kept play ticking over, and finished his performance with a superb goal.
Josh Cullen – 7 – Had some good moments whilst sat alongside Bielik in midfield, probably didn’t get on the ball as much as he would’ve liked to.
Albie Morgan – 8 – What an assist for Taylor’s goal, sublime pass. Could’ve got on the scoresheet himself twice. A decent option for Bowyer in midfield with lots of potential.
Joe Aribo – 8 – A great finish for the opening goal, a fantastic curling effort. Started off brightly, going close to scoring, but faded as the game went on.
Lyle Taylor – 10 – Could’ve had a goal and two assists, he was unplayable. Was occasionally sloppy on the ball. Man of the match.
Josh Parker – 7 – Made the right runs and correct decisions but was unlucky at times, did get his first assist. Missed what looked like a sitter. Can’t blame his effort, it just didn’t come off for him.
