Josh Cullen has no preference as to who he wants Charlton to face in the League One playoffs come the end of the regular season.

The midfielder, on loan from Premier League club West Ham United, says the Addicks are confident they can beat whoever they against and reach Wembley for the final.

Charlton remain fifth in the table but, mathematically, could reach as high as third come the full-time whistle on Saturday (May 5).

While two of their promotion rivals must play out their respective games in midweek, Lee Bowyer’s men could still get any of Barnsley, Portsmouth, Sunderland or even Doncaster Rovers.

“Nah, no preference,” Cullen said. “When it comes to the playoffs it's two games and whoever is going to be the best team over the two games.

“We're confident that we can be the best team whoever we play against. Whoever we get then bring them on.”

Asked whether Charlton worry about playing the second leg away from The Valley, he added: “We haven't really thought about that too much. I think we're just going to try and win next week [against Rochdale] and see where we end up and whoever we get.

“We're confident, home or away, that we can go and win games and, whoever we get, we'll be confident going into it and looking forward to it.”

Charlton would face Sunderland in the playoff semi-finals, as it stands, and host their promotion rivals at home before travelling away for the second leg.

The Addicks’ win against Gillingham means they can still finish third or fourth, and potentially face sixth-place Doncaster Rovers instead.

Have the playoffs been in the players’ minds?

“It's in our mind,” Cullen said. “I think if I come here and said it's not in our mind at all then I'd be lying.

“We know that, to go into those games, we've got to go into it with good momentum. It was a disappointing result away at Oxford and now we've bounced back, scored six goals in two games [against Scunthorpe and Gillingham], two clean sheets, and got two very good wins.

“We want to go into those playoff games with momentum and be in the in-form side going into them, and then when they come we'll be more than ready.”
