Stoke City’s Nathan Jones feels his side were denied a certain penalty in their goalless draw with Millwall.

The Potters’ manager is adamant referee Oliver Langford should’ve pointed to the spot on eight minutes when Benik Afobe was pulled to the ground by Lions skipper Alex Pearce as he was getting his shot away.

Dave Martin made the save but Jones feels a penalty should've been awarded and Pearce given his marching orders.

"Absolute stonewall, nailed on, undoubted penalty, and because he’s done it on purpose its probably a red card," said Jones.

“We should’ve had a stonewall penalty, which would’ve changed the complexion of the game.

“The ball's gone across the box, he’s just got to tap it in to an empty net but Pearce has pulled him back."

Jones, who took charge of the Potters in January, admitted he knew what was in store for him at The Den having played here during his Southend, Brighton, and Yeovil days.

"First half I thought we were excellent and dominated, but anyone who’s watched a game, played a game here, you know it’s a tough place to come.

"It would’ve been a lot easier for my players to not go through that work rate and put their bodies on their line because we have very little to play for apart from pride this year, but I think we showed a great attitude and an integrity for which British football is renowned for."

Stoke sit 16th in the table but Jones believes his side should've been pushing for promotion.

"We want to win games, and that’s been our problem.

"We haven’t won enough games.

"We haven’t lost many, but we’ve drawn so many, lots of games we should’ve won.

"I can reel off four or five games and if we won, and we should’ve won because we were comfortable, we would’ve been a lot closer to the play-offs."
