Despite a place in the League One play-off guaranteed, Lee Bowyer insists he wants to finish the season with five wins from five.

The Addicks bounced back from a Good Friday defeat at Oxford with an emphatic 4-0 thumping of Scunthorpe on Easter Monday and the manager doesn’t want standards to drop.

Although Charlton have a two-legged tie in the play-off against one of the league’s elite on the horizon, Bowyer remains focussed on the finishing the two games of the regular season strongly, beginning at 13th placed Gillingham on Saturday.

“We’ve got five games hopefully, we’ve got to win five games,” said Bowyer.

“Win them all and we’ll go up.

“Whoever we play in this league will be tough, Saturday will be tough.

“Gillingham is a tough place to go.”

Awaiting Bowyer at Priestfield Stadium this weekend will be two former Addicks, players the manager knows all about.

“In Brandon (Hanlon) and Cookie (Regan Charles-Cook), they've got two old boys wanting to prove a point.

“Brandon has pace that can hurt you.

“Tom Eaves, their big fella up front is a threat.”

Win Every Game

That said, Bowyer remained confident in his side who before the 2-1 defeat at Oxford were on a 12-game unbeaten run which included victories over Portsmouth and league leaders Luton Town.

“It’s not being disrespectful, if we do the right things and compete, we have players who can hurt them.

“I believe we can win every game.

“The games we’ve won recently, we have been by far better than them.

“We are a tough side to play.

“I’m confident regarding Saturday, we have to turn up, be professional, and do the right thing.”

Charlton welcome Rochdale to The Valley in their final game of the season before the play-offs take place on either 11th and 16th or 12th and 17 of May.
