Millwall failed to follow up on their impressive victory against promotion chasing West Brom by producing a calamitous game of football against fellow relegation battlers QPR.

The game petered out to a disappointing 0-0 draw, with the referee producing the vital talking points of the game rather than the players.

Here is how Newsshopper rated Millwall’s players:

David Martin – 8

Had his palms stung in the opening minutes by a Matt Smith volley, commanded his six yard area very well given that very rememberable blunder against Brighton a few weeks ago. Refuted Osayi-Samuel with a magnificent save on 70 minutes.

James Meredith – 7

This is the Meredith that earned sixty consecutive starts in a Millwall shirt. Cool, assured and defensively sound throughout.

Alex Pearce – 8

The fact that he bears the armband for a club he only signed for in January is a testament to his experience. Sneaked in at the back post from a corner but was denied by a good save from Joe Lumley in the Hoops goal.

Jake Cooper – 6

Looked shaky throughout, failing to communicate with Pearce on numerous occasions led to one too many unforced errors. Luckily he made amends by clearing up his own mess with a variety of last ditch tackles.

Mahlon Romeo – 6

Showed quality at both ends of the pitch, as his pace proved both to be a defensive asset as well as an attacking one. If the defender could execute his intentions in the final third however, Millwall could have one of the best full backs in the league.

Ben Marshall – 4

Picked up an early booking for a needless foul, which really summed up his evening. The midfielder looks a different player to what the Lions fans witnessed last season. If you were looking for a positive, his corners were adequately average.

Ryan Tunnicliffe – 5

In a game with so little passing, the midfielder was not able to impose his usual game and as a result went missing for large parts.

Ryan Leonard – 5

The midfielder thrived on the scrappy nature of the game by lunging into tackles and charging down QPR players. Yet, the midfielders dire ball retention created that scrappy nature in the first place.

Jed Wallace – 6

Played with his usual intensity and panache, but everything attempted by the winger petered out to a disappointing end. Just was not his day.

Ben Thompson – 6

His recent form was dampened by the fact that QPR doubled up on him. Albeit, he run himself into the ground and his effort did not go unnoticed by the Lions faithful.

Lee Gregory – 6

Set the tempo for the Lions by pressing from the from and given the awful service the striker threw himself in front of every ball that was launched his way. Another game that showed how much he will be missed if he fails to sign a contract extension by the end of the season.

Subs:

Aiden O’Brien – 5

Failed to make an impact when given the opportunity.

Steve Morrison – 5

The only notable mention should be that the Lions veteran’s hair is now just as white as his shorts.
