Crystal Palace won their first game at St James Park for 21 years on Saturday but fans were still left unimpressed by their side’s showing.
Luka Milivojevic’s penalty ten minutes from time after Wilfried Zaha was upended was enough to take the spoils in a match of little quality.
Now seemingly safe Palace fans are calling for one change in their next outing against Manchester City next weekend.
Christian Benteke.
The £27 million forward who has overcome an injury nightmare at the beginning of the season has had to settle for a spot on the bench in the last few weeks as Roy Hodgson has opted for loan signing Michy Batshuayi to lead the line.
The 28-year-old signed from Liverpool three years ago hasn’t found the back of the net this season but the Palace fans are calling for him to get a chance from the off as his contribution to the side is more than on the scoresheet.

And it's unlikely that Batshuayi will be around next season so I'd give Benteke the game time in the next two fixtures and see how it goes... #CPFC

Benteke's finishing is well & truly finished, but he brings so much more to our team than Batshuayi. I'd play both of them, however seeing as Roy won't, I'd start Benteke from now on. Batshuayi is a great finisher, but contributes very little in comparison. #CPFC

#CPFC #COYP I know Big Ben doesn't score anymore but when he's on the pitch, Wilf is a different player. He sparks into life when Benteke comes on.

Given a run of games he'll start scoring, need to see him and batsman up top

Benteke’s been great coming off the bench in recent games. Still love the man.#CPFC pic.twitter.com/AqueQmTdYF

Thought Benteke looked sharp again today after he came on. Played in Wilf for the penalty. Would love to see him get a start #cpfc

Now that we are safe, surely we have to try something different in regards to tactics and formations. Play Benteke and Bats together every game #cpfc

Royston got changes spot on today! Need to start Benteke next week. Regardless of whether the game was dull & boring, a win is a win, and we mustn’t get above our stations. Many clubs have followed that path and got lost in their ways. Hopefully we finish the season strong #cpfc

Why is everyone getting onto benteke last two games his changed them, instead of taking the piss how about we motivate them, I don’t see people getting onto batsuayi when his been poor past two games #cpfc

Benteke changed the game again today. We get more meaningful possession with him on and vitally Wilf gets more.#cpfc

Big 3 points. Thought we did alright. We looked better when Benteke came on...again.

What's the most penalties awarded to a single team in a season because we must be close to beating that? 😂 #CPFC

Benteke reminds me of Cameron Jerome. Couldn't score to save his life but the team played so much better when he played #cpfc

Barely deserved that but Benteke the difference again. Wilf and Townsend come alive when he is on the pitch as they know they actually might get the ball in a decent area of the pitch. It’s so obvious, how does Roy not see it. Great from Wilf and Luka. AWB another level #cpfc
