Lee Bowyer has had his say on the rumours surrounding his future amid reports QPR are keen on the Charlton manager.

The Hoops, who sacked Steve McClaren on Monday, were reportedly eager to put the Addick boss in their hot seat after a successful 12 months in League One.

Bowyer, whose contract is up in the summer, admitted he had heard nothing from the club - but was aware of the speculation.

“No conversation, so no contract offer,” he said.

“I think it’s obviously all speculation.

“I’ve spoken to nobody from QPR, I don’t know where it’s come from.

“That’s what happens in football, if you’re doing well you get linked with other jobs.

“If there’s any truth behind it, it shows we’re doing well and getting recognition and that’s a credit to everybody at the football club.”

Despite admitting there was no contact between himself and QPR, the Addicks boss couldn’t deny the appeal of a club of QPR’s standings.

“It’s just speculation, but yeah it’s a good club, a big club with great tradition, so it’s obviously flattering but I’m not getting carried away.

“All I’ve done since the start of the week is focus on Saturday’s game, that’s my job, what I’m paid to do.”

Asked whether managers have the same aspirations as players to perform at the highest level the manger replied: “Yeah of course”

“It’s flattering but I’m paid here, my job is to get promotion, nothing changes.

“If there is any truth behind it’s good for the football club.”
