Blackburn Rovers are expected to re-new their interest in Patrick Bauer as the defender looks increasingly unlikely to sign a new deal at The Valley.

Tony Mowbray’s Lancashire outfit were fond of signing the German last summer but the Addicks refused to sell a key component of a side looking to return to the Championship.

Bauer, 26, is one of many at Charlton who is in their final months of their contracts and a move away from SE7 looks likely to hinge on which league they ply their trade next season.

News Shopper:

Charlton look likely to finish in the play-off positions meaning all is not lost on retaining one of their stand out performers in a fine season under Bowyer, but the reluctance to put pen to paper on fresh terms increases the importance of gaining promotion and keeping their top talent.

The Stuttgart trainee joined from Maritimo four years ago and has amassed over 100 appearances for Charlton.

Bauer has openly declared his warm feelings towards Charlton but it’s understood he wants to play at a higher level.

It’s known that Blackburn’s Mowbray is keen to strengthen the fourth worst backline in the Championship and sees the German as the man to add do that.
