Lewis Dunk insists the Millwall boo-boys won’t intimidate him in Brighton’s FA Cup quarter final at The Den.

Dunk has worn the armband for the Gulls recently and is accustomed to getting stick from opposing fans, none more so than last Saturday’s 2-1 win over bitter rivals Crystal Palace in the M23 derby.

The 27-year-old defender has gained a reputation for his exuberant and passionate displays for Chris Hughton’s side, often resulting being the subject of terrace attention.

“If you don't thrive under pressure you won’t be a footballer,” said Brighton born Dunk.

“You have to thrive under it, if you crumble you’re going to lose.

“Both places, Selhurst Park and The Den we’ll get stick.

“I was a local boy and Palace are a rival club, so I’m always going to get it.

“But we ignore it when we are playing, I don’t think it’ll be as personal at Millwall but it’s part and parcel of football.”

The one-cap international who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad to face Czech Republic and Montenegro next week, insisted that despite the Club’s priority being Premier League survival, all their focus is on Millwall.

“We can do big things in this competition, we are in a quarter-final, one game from a Wembley and a semi-final.

“You never know, you get in that final and anything can happen.

“Hopefully something special can happen.

“Our aim is the semi-final, let’s see what happens.”
