Lee Bowyer has shed light on player contracts at The Valley.

It is understood that Anfernee Dijksteel and Joe Aribo are the club’s priority in terms of tying down to new deals.

Djiksteel and Aribo, both 22, have featured 27 and 25 times respectively this season under Bowyer and the manager revealed that their futures are nearing a conclusion.

“Anfernee is close to signing a new deal,” said Bowyer.

“Joe Aribo, we are still working on that.”

Aribo, who has been one of the stand-out performers this season gained interest from top tier clubs earlier this year.

With his contract up in the summer the Addicks know the importance of a new deal as they’ll face losing the midfielder for nothing.

Bowyer also echoed the views held in the fans forum that was held on Tuesday at The Valley, whereby Steve Gallen admitted that promotion holds a key part in player retention at the club.

One man who it seems would only be at The Valley next year is if they are in the Championship is Krystian Bielik.

“A player of his quality, it’ll be difficult to get him back if we don’t get promotion,” Bowyer said.

Charlton face Portsmouth at The Valley this Saturday.
