According to reports Crystal Palace are readying a £15 million deal to bring Jack Butland to Selhurst Park this summer.
The Stoke City shot-stopper is seen as a long-term replacement for Vicente Guaita, who’s commitment at the club has been questioned as he’s thought to be suffering from home sickness.
The keeper arrived in the summer and has recently claimed the number one jersey from Wayne Hennessey despite being dropped for their 3-1 win at Burnley on Saturday.
Jack Butland, 25, who at Stoke looks destined to spend another season in the Championship with the Potters all but out of the running for the top six, is thought to want a move to the Premiership to aid his international chances.
The mooted £15million fee would be a steal for a goalkeeper who was close to joining Liverpool in a £40 million deal as little as 12 months ago.
Guaita arrived on a free transfer from Getafe in August signing a three-year deal, but it thought to be keen on a move back to his native Spain.
The 32-year-old waited for his chance at Palace and since becoming first choice for Roy Hodgson he and the fans have struck up an unlikely bond.
Any sale of the keeper would mean a profit that could go towards the purchase of Butland, but many fans are left unconvinced by the nine-cap England international is the answer.
Guaita homesick. Butland coming in the summer. What’s going on ... #CPFC
