Lee Bowyer has argued that the visit to the Keepmoat Stadium is a ‘six-pointer.’

“It’s a big game, every game is at this stage of the season,” he said.

Fifth play sixth with both teams knowing that a place above their opponents is in their own hands.

If Charlton come away with the three points they will open up an eight-point cushion although Donny will have a game in hand.

Fighting for their Lives

Donny suffered a 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury mid-week which they will be looking to bounce back from.

Although the defeat came as a shock to many, Bowyer claimed it didn’t surprise him.

“Teams are fighting for their lives, Shrewsbury are a good side at home, although I didn’t expect them (Doncaster) to lose.”

Doncaster last outing comes in stark contrast to Charlton’s win at Wimbledon.

The win, but more importantly the manner of the win was important according to the manager.

“Going down, coming back and then scoring a goal late on, it was a great result for us.

“It puts us in good stead and in good spirits ahead of Saturday.”

Star Man – John Marquis

News Shopper:

The League One’s second top scorer with 18 goals, Marquis is without doubt the man the Addicks defence will need to watch out for.

Donny fought off a host of bids at the start of the season and in January for the powerful centre-forward.

The Lewisham born 26 -year-old rose through the ranks at Millwall but found game-time difficult so learned his trade across nine loan spells at seven different clubs.

In his first season with the club he was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Year.

He’s a real goalscorer, having scored 25 in the league below, he netted 15 last season in League One and has already surpassed that this time.

Former Donny manager Darren Ferguson claimed he was one of his ‘best-ever signings’ whilst at the club.

“Every day in training he’s at it.

“He challenges you and you need to be switched on and you need to be prepared to face him.”

The Manager – Grant McCann

News Shopper:

The manager has proven many wrong this season with people predicting his side will be in the bottom half of the table fighting relegation.

Despite being pleased with his season so far McCann is also aware ‘nothing has been achieved yet,’ meaning he is surely targeting promotion.

“We’re still in the process of proving people wrong, we still have that burning inside of us to show what we’re made of.

“People might doubt us that we haven’t had the best results over the past couple of games, but when you look at it, we’ve lost four games in 21, there aren’t any wheels falling off here, we’re firmly focused on what we want to do, and our number one aim is promotion."

McCann on Charlton:

“They’ve been up and around the top six just like we have all season, Lee Bowyer has a very good side there, but it’s all about us and what we do, we have to make sure we have a positive reaction to recent results,” he said after his 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury.

“They have a lot of good forwards that we have to be careful with, they’ve lost Karlan Grant but they replaced him with a big striker in Josh Parker, and they’ve got Lyle Taylor who was in good form too."
