Charlton fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Lyle Taylor has overcome what was thought to be a serious ankle injury for the weekend’s trip to Doncaster.

Taylor was seen leaving Kingsmeadow after last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Wimbledon in a protective boot.

Following the game the forward said the ankle ‘wasn’t good,’ but it appears he is fit for selection for the tie against their fellow promotion contenders.

“He rolled his ankle but he’s fine,” said Bowyer.

“He trained on Tuesday and today (Thursday), he’s fine.

“The boot was just precautionary, he hurt his ankle, got treatment on Monday and felt ok on Tuesday.

“He’s looking sharp.”

Stay Away

Other than long-term injuries, there were concerns over a bout of flu amongst the squad as a number of players and staff have come down with the virus.

Josh Parker missed the trip to Wimbledon with the bug and has only returned to training this week but is not 100%, while Darren Pratley and Traiqe Fosu both missed a day's training this week.

“In these situations we tell them to stay away.

“They’re all constantly in contact with each other, they all shake hands every morning so I’ve told them not to do that anymore.

“Stay away, get some tablets in to them, get them back feeling stronger and playing.

“I know from my own experience you just think ‘I’ll go and train’ but it knocks everything out of you, it drains you even more, so we send them away as soon as they’re ill.”

There was good news regarding Albie Morgan however, who will feature for the U23’s on Friday after overcoming his ankle injury.
