Lee Bowyer believes Roland Duchatelet isn’t overshadowing the team’s achievements this season despite the column inches the Charlton owner is getting.

Duchatelet phoned talkSPORT radio on Tuesday to discuss the recent vandalism to his Belgian home and the current state of the sale of the club, off-field matters that are irrelevant to on-field matters according to Bowyer.

The Charlton manager admitted he hadn’t heard the interview and stated ‘it’s nothing to do with him’ when asked his opinion on the owners comments that he shouldn’t have been allowed to buy the club and that he spends very little time on club issues.

“It’s his opinion, I don’t know what his life is like,” said Bowyer.

“It might be 2% of his time he spends on Charlton, I don’t speak to him.

“I think I’ve spoken to him four or five times this season, so if it is 2% it’s 2%, it’s his life, his money.

“Whether he should’ve bought the club that’s up to him to say."

The manager insisted that off-field dilemmas involving the owner has little impact on team’s running as he attempts to get the Addicks back to the Championship.

“The owner doing interviews doesn’t affect us.

"I wouldn’t say he’s purposely going on the radio to take the plaudits away from the players.

“I don’t think his interviews take anything away from what we’ve done this season as a side.

“I think everyone can tell we’ve done very very well with limited resources.

“The facts are we haven’t spent a penny and everyone around us has spent a lot.

“If he wants to do interviews, go ahead, I just concentrate on what I’m doing.”

Charlton travel to sixth place Doncaster on Saturday.
