Jed Wallace believes the passion the Millwall players have for the club is proving vital as they continue to turn their season around.

Wallace scored the only goal of the game at Pride Park to register only their second win on the road this season and the forward believes it’s down to the players’ connection with the club.

Neil Harris men were heavy underdogs going to Derby, a side chasing promotion, and the victory caps off a fine couple of days for the Lions after they navigated their way to the FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend.

“I’ve always maintained to the Millwall fans that the changing room cares about Millwall football club and it’s shown,” the 24-year-old told the Millwall’s official site.

“When we’ve thrown points away this season the boys have been devastated.

“It’s not the case for just being down for ten minutes, it’s a good two or three days because it’s been so nearly a good season for us.

“But after 35 games, you deserve to be where you are in the table.

“We’ve been unprofessional at times but at Derby we’ve been the complete opposite.”

Turn in Fortunes

The forward’s fifth goal of the season pushed Harris’ men up to 19th in the league and five points clear of the drop zone but with a game in hand.

Millwall have now conceded just the one goal in four outings and Wallace believes they’ve turned the corner in regards to resolving their defensive frailties.

“We were scoring a lot and letting more in which is very un-Millwall-like under this manager.

“We’ve worked tirelessly in training, and it helps with Coops(Jake Cooper) and Hutch (Shaun Hutchinson) coming into form.

“The mental strength from the boys to hold on and get the was huge, you can feel it in the changing room, it’s a massive result for us.

“We’ve been in a similar position so many times this year and thrown away a lot of points.

“We put an unbelievable shift in and we deserved it.”
