Charlton’s chances of signing a free agent look all but over according to Lee Bowyer.

Speaking after the Addick’s 1-1 draw with Southend United Bowyer gave the impression a new recruit looked unlikely.

With Nicky Ajose leaving on loan, selling Karlan Grant and having Lyle Taylor suspended, Bowyer has been short of options in attack.

“We spoke to one but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen,” said Bowyer.

“It’s (signing someone) is something we’d like to do but it might not be something the owner would like to do.

“We lost three strikers and brought in one.”

Lyle Taylor will be available for next week’s visit of Blackpool but one person they will have to be without for the next two matches is Krystian Bielik who picked up his tenth yellow card of the season.

“It was a stupid booking.

“Too many touches, there’s no reason to take six touches and try and beat too many people.

“He needs to learn and the quicker he takes on board what we tell him the better it’ll be for everybody.

“He’ll be a miss next week but that’s the way it goes and nothing you can do.

“A stupid booking.”

Bielik, who reverted from midfield to centre-back, was deputising for the suspended Pat Bauer who will be available next weekend.
