A man has been arrested following the brawl at Millwall’s fourth round FA Cup tie with Everton the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Following clashes between the two sets of supporters on Saturday January 26, an Everton fan revealed shocking facial injuries after he appeared to be slashed in the face.

Investigations since the violence have been ongoing and now it’s been confirmed a 27-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of wounding with intent, violent disorder and attempting grievous bodily harm.

Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson from the Met's Public Order Investigation Team, said: "The disorder which we witnessed was absolutely shocking. It involved dozens of people and last for a number of hours.

"We are carrying out a large-scale investigation into the disorder, which left at least one person with a serious injury.

"We have hours of CCTV and hundreds of images which we are closely reviewing, and we have a team of experts working to identify those involved.

"In the very near future we will be issuing images of those we want to trace, and we will be asking for the media's support in doing so. We are dedicated to identifying those involved, and bringing them to justice for the chaos and disruption they caused.

The violence marred one of Millwall’s greatest achievements in the competition as Murray Wallace’s injury time winner gave the Lions a 3-2 victory over their Premier League opponents.

Millwall face a trip to AFC Wimbledon in the next round.
