Lee Bowyer hoped to get two strikers through The Valley door during January but fell one short of his target.

In Josh Parker they went some way in filling the void left by Karlan Grant who left for Huddersfield in a £2million deal.

But still a body light, Bowyer has recently stated they are still looking at players without a club to see if they can add some quality to his squad.

So who is available?

Frederic Gounongbe

News Shopper:

The 30-year-old from Benin has been without a club since the summer when his contract with Cardiff City expired.

Under Neil Warnock in the Welsh capital it’s safe to say he didn’t set the Championship alight, registering no goals in 14 outings, albeit most from the bench.

In Belgium before that however he scored on average a goal just over every game and a half, which was enough to earn him a move to the Bluebirds.

Signing of an unproven quantity on these shores would be risky of Charlton, but being light on numbers, Gounongbe could be an option.

Victor Anichebe

News Shopper:

His name is banded around every transfer window, and now he’s a free agent it’s no different.

At 30-years-old he’s not over the hill, and still boasting incredible strength and experience he could be the perfect foil for Lyle Taylor.

Under Lee Bowyer he could resurrect a career that last saw him in 'Ol' Blighty' with Sunderland for the 2016/17 season in the Premiership.

With his contract with Chinese second tier outfit Beijing Enterprising expiring a couple of weeks ago, Anichebe will at least boast a decent level of fitness compared to some of the other’s on the free agent list.

Gabriel Agbonlahor

News Shopper:

A very long shot considering he hasn’t had a club since the summer.

A player that has been openly criticised for his professionalism and staying fit, one wonders what shape he would be in if he were to arrive at The Valley.

At 32 he won’t have the blistering pace he had when he burst on the scene at Villa Park but what he has is an abundance of experience.

But is that what Charlton need?

Darren Bent

News Shopper:

Fans have already been calling for Bent to get his studs back to The Valley, albeit tongue in cheek.

At 34 he’s no spring chicken but he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Could he be the fox in the box Charlton need?

Alexey Gasilin

News Shopper:

The 22-year-old Russian has somehow found himself without a club having performed admirably in the Portuguese second tier.

With stints in Russia and Germany all harbouring a decent goal return, averaging a goal every other game, a punt on the man who can play on the flank as well as up top could well pay off.

Jay Simpson

News Shopper:

The Arsenal academy product has taken in many sides since turning pro in 2007.

Millwall, West Brom, QPR, Hull City, Leyton Orient and more recently two years in the MLS with Philadelphia.

He averaged a goal every three games whilst in the Championship and a goal every four in League One.

Is that the quality Bowyer would be after?

Alex Nimely

News Shopper:

Remember the name?

He has an FA Cup medal. If you said it was with Manchester City in 2011, you’d be right.

After spells in Finland and Romania, where he won a league title, he could offer Charlton something different.

Giles Barnes

News Shopper:

Derby, Fulham, West Brom, Doncaster, Houston, Vancouver, Orlando, Leon, and Colorado, Barnes has some CV. Could Charlton be next on the attacker’s list?

At 30 he has time on his side, but one would question his commitment and hunger to the cause.

Undoubtedly talented, would signing Barnes be a similar signing to Leon Best a couple of season ago?
