Bakary Sako will add another string to Crystal Palace’s bow according to Roy Hodgson.

The Mali international joined on a short-term deal until the end of the season from West Bromwich Albion in what will be his second time with the club.

Having made 50 appearances for the Eagles and scoring eight in three seasons at Selhurst Park before his contract expired last year, Hodgson believes the addition of the forward will add some fire-power to his ranks.

“We hope he gives us what he gave us before he fractured his ankle a year ago,” said Hodgson.

“I was disappointed we weren’t able to persuade him to stay with us on the contract we were offering, (in October) because at the time there was a doubt about the ankle and how it would go.

“We were just lucky there was a chance we could bring him back and he wanted to come.

“He’s a very useful addition to our squad because in those wide forward areas we are limited to some extent because we can’t be 100% certain how it will go with Connor(Wickham) and Christian (Benteke).

“So having Bakary there will give us another string to our bow.”
