Crystal Palace are rumoured to be in talks with former Chelsea man Jon Obi Mikel about a potential move to Selhurst Park this January.

Roy Hodgson has yet to recruit this month despite seeing a number of faces leave and it’s thought he’s keen to bolster his squad.

With finances non-existent at the club and a loan or free signing seemingly the only option, Mikel having left Tianjin Teda recently is a free agent and it seems Palace have moved to recruit the Nigerian.

The 31-year-old left Chelsea two years ago for a big money move to China, but it’s thought he has his heart set on a move back to London despite interest from clubs in north England.

Following Palace’s calamitous 4-3 defeat at Anfield on the weekend, an experienced defensive midfielder could be what the Eagles require.
